Coastal charm
Situated on the Oder River near the Baltic Sea, Szczecin is known for its waterfront promenades, vibrant marina and a maritime heritage that still shapes the city's grain.
Szczecin sits on the Oder River near the Baltic, two hours by train from Berlin and within comfortable reach of Northern and Central European hubs. Its scale is part of the offer: unlike high-density metropolitan centres, the city provides conditions conducive to concentration, networking and extended academic discussion.
The 2027 Congress is held under the honorary patronage of the President of the City of Szczecin and the City of Szczecin.
Day one opens with a gala at the Filharmonia. Days two and three move to the Courtyard by Marriott — modern conference infrastructure, walking distance from your room. Two settings, one continuous programme.
The Congress inaugurates with a spectacular Opening Ceremony and Gala Concert at the Filharmonia im. Mieczysława Karłowicza w Szczecinie — one of the most celebrated concert halls in contemporary European architecture.
Designed by Estudio Barozzi Veiga and awarded the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award in 2015, the Philharmonic blends architectural excellence with exceptional acoustic performance. Its luminous, faceted silhouette has become one of the city's signature landmarks — a setting that naturally extends scientific dialogue beyond the formal programme.
The full scientific programme — plenaries, parallel symposia and workshops — runs at the Courtyard by Marriott Szczecin City: a modern, full-service conference hotel built around a single concourse, with a plenary hall, breakout rooms for parallel sessions, and integrated catering and networking areas all on one floor.
Operated under Marriott International, the Courtyard provides a controlled, high-standard environment suitable for international medical and scientific events — and its sister property, Moxy Szczecin City, sits within the same complex.
The result is a single integrated space: no daily commuting, no transfers between hotel and venue, and increased availability for networking and informal meetings.

Both Courtyard and Moxy operate within the Marriott International portfolio, with consistent international service standards and walking-distance access between them. Reserve a room in either property to keep your day to a single corridor.
A coastal city with quiet ambition — water on one side, forest on the other, and a cultural quarter that has earned its place on the map twice in a decade.
Situated on the Oder River near the Baltic Sea, Szczecin is known for its waterfront promenades, vibrant marina and a maritime heritage that still shapes the city's grain.
Home to internationally acclaimed architecture, museums and the Philharmonic, Szczecin has undergone a remarkable cultural renaissance over the past two decades. The city has evolved into a modern urban and academic centre — a natural setting for scientific dialogue that continues beyond formal sessions.
Located near the German border, just two hours from Berlin by rail, Szczecin combines international accessibility with a low-congestion, focused environment. Direct flights via Szczecin–Goleniów and easy links from Warsaw put the city comfortably within reach of all of Northern and Central Europe.
Szczecin is located in northwestern Poland, approximately 130 km from Berlin, and is easily accessible by air, rail and road.
Three sensible ways in. The local airport handles direct connections to several European hubs; for routes it does not cover, Berlin Brandenburg is two hours away with frequent rail and coach links.
A short reference for delegates, accompanying persons and partners arriving in Szczecin for the first time.
